Why Rejection Can Be Good For You

Jun 20, 2016

No one enjoys being rejected. It's a core human need to be accepted and feel successful.

Yet, when you view it in the proper perspective, rejection can actually be good for you.  Let me explain...

Rejection feels painful. And that's good news, because pain gets your attention. In fact, your brain pays far more attention to pain and threats than it does to the status quo.

Once the pain of rejection has your attention, the question becomes what to do with it.

Ultimately, rejection comes down to one of two things. Either:

1.  You were rejected because you lacked sufficient skill in achieving that goal, or

2.  That goal was truly not a fit, and it never will be

Either way, it's helpful to view rejection simply as feedback. Then, most importantly, you need to get into action.

In today's video I share some real-world examples of both types of rejection, and how to respond to each.

Have you viewed rejection as an opportunity? How did you bounce back from it?
